The project scope includes an eastern extension to enhance the buildings presentation to Governor Road & the re-modelling of internal areas to provide for flexible & efficient community use of spaces. A natural timber material palette has been adopted to reference the rich history of traditional timber boat building on the neighbouring Mordialloc Creek.

As part of this project, City of Kingston are piloting the integration of a green building façade. It will be designed to filter pollutants and carbon dioxide out of the air, as well as helping to cool the surrounding area. Native species will also be selected for the green facade that contribute towards instating the buildings new identity in a parkland setting.

A range of ESD initiatives have been adopted including repurposing existing building elements, insulated external walls and roofing, double glazing, solar hot water, recycled material content & rainwater harvesting.
