The planning of the project centred on splitting the building into two parts to enable a physical separation of the community space to the sporting space. In doing so, it maximises opportunities for precinct connections while creating a central undercover courtyard as a focal outdoor gathering & meeting space.
Positioned on an elevated sloping site, an expressive & dynamic roofline purposes as a unifying sheltering form over the two separate building volumes, creating ever-changing periphery & undercover viewing spaces that frame vistas to the sports field & landscapes beyond.
Comprising football, cricket & netball sporting facilities, umpire areas, a gym space, meeting rooms & community spaces, the building has an open outlook to the community, both in terms of its relationship with its immediate surrounds but also in its spatial flexibility.
